What are they?

These are high quality, scientifically based tests used in traffic psychology research and practise.

Who uses them?

Anyone, any organisation can make use of the Driver Fitness tests. However they are  mostly used by organisations in supply and logistics, manufacturing industry and any other company that employs drivers and operators of heavy equipment.

When are they used?

Mostly used in recruitment and skills audit.

How it works?

The testing is done using the Vienna Testing System which produces a well detailed and graphical  report the instance the candidate is done with the tests. The Vienna Testing System is a cutting edge platform used for making psychometric testing digital. The candidate has access to left and right foot pedals, a control unit keyboard, a monitor and two left and right LED bars to ensure all psychometric dimensions to be measured are done digitally and all the data stored on a separated server.

Why you should use them? (business value)

  1. Use cutting edge technology for your psychometric testing using the Vienna Testing System and instantly get a well explained report. Avoid delays and errors in your recruitment procedure
  2. Highlight performance deficits in potentially dangerous drivers and avoid a wrong hire  that will cost you more than you know at an early stage.
  3. Protect your vehicles and business from irresponsible drivers.

THE TESTS

A. PLANNING THE JOURNEY

Logical Reasoning:

The respondent is shown a 3 x 3 matrix; eight of the nine fields contain figures that are arranged in accordance with various rules. The test persons are required to recognize these rules and fill out the empty box using the rules: there are eight possible answers to choose from.

B. EXECUTING THE JOURNEY

Concentration:

The respondent’s task is to compare a figure with four other figures and decide as quickly as

possible whether one of the four figures is identical to the reference figure.

C. DEALING WITH UNFORESEEN SITUATIONS

Stress tolerance, reactive:

The test uses five optical stimuli of different colours, two different acoustic stimuli and two signals for the foot-operated keys. To all of these the respondent must react as quickly as possible by pressing the corresponding button on the Response Panel or the corresponding foot pedal. The program adapts to the respondent’s ability level by varying the speed of stimulus presentation.

Ability to react:

The test requires the respondent to press a particular key as soon as the critical stimulus is presented.

Obtaining an overview when driving:

Pictures of traffic situations appear briefly on the screen. After seeing each picture, the respondent is asked to state what was in it, choosing from the five answer options that are

given.

Peripheral perception:

Administration of this test requires the foot-operated keys and an external input medium consisting of light diode strips that are attached to the left and right of the monitor. Light-emitting diodes mounted on the apparatus generate light stimuli that move at a pre-set speed (in regular “jumps”). Critical stimuli appear at pre-defined intervals; the respondent reacts to these by depressing the foot pedal. At the same time, a moving ball needs to be kept within the cross hairs on the screen. This prevents the respondent from turning his head while simultaneously allowing divided attention to be measured.
