About the Role:
Are you a seasoned underwriting professional with leadership experience? We are looking for an Underwriting Manager to join our team in an expatriate capacity. This role will oversee the underwriting process, develop strategies to manage risk effectively, and ensure team performance aligns with company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the underwriting team to achieve operational excellence.
- Develop and implement underwriting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Review and approve complex and high-value insurance applications.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
- Analyze trends in underwriting performance and provide strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize underwriting processes.
- Monitor team performance and provide training and development as required.
- Develop strategic partnerships with brokers, agents, and reinsurers to maximize business opportunities.
- Ensure the underwriting team achieves key performance metrics, including turnaround times and accuracy.
- Lead risk audits and reviews to ensure the integrity of the underwriting process.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new insurance products and risk frameworks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s will be an added advantage).
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of underwriting policies and risk assessment techniques.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
