Key Responsibilities: 


  1. Visionary Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a long-term vision and strategy to achieve growth and sustainability. Ability to set strategic goals while balancing commercial and social objectives.
  2. Product Ecosystem and Innovation: Lead a diverse product portfolio with an emphasis on innovation and ecosystem management. Drive product innovation to meet diverse customer needs. Understanding of local and regional contexts, especially in Southern Africa, and sensitivity to the diverse needs of customers. 
  3. Operational Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of a large branch and centre network, ensuring efficiency and customer satisfaction. 
  4. Team Leadership and Development: Lead teams to meet performance targets across all levels of the business. Excellent people skills including exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to inspire and mentor diverse teams, fostering a culture of innovation, integrity, and inclusivity. Identify talent and develop the next generation of leaders. 
  5. Financial Acumen: Ensure financial stability by managing loans, credit risks, and collections. Deep understanding of financial products and risk management. Achieve profitability while maintaining social impact. A track record of delivering growth and achieving KPIs in challenging environments. Ability to navigate currency volatility and market fluctuations.
  6. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with investors, regulators, board, partners, and customers. Advocate for the company in the industry and with policymakers. 


Qualification and Experience


  • A degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (MBA or Master’s in Development Finance preferred).
  • Certifications in microfinance or financial services will be an added advantage. 
  • Proven track record of leadership in the microfinance, banking, or financial services industry. 
  • At least 7 years experience managing large, diverse branch networks. 
  • Strong background in credit management, financial planning, and product innovation. 
  • Track record as CEO/GM and experience in dealing with Board and Regulators.
