Key Responsibilities


  • Manage day-to-day workshop operations for a fleet of over 600 vehicles and equipment.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Oversee diagnostics, repairs, and servicing of Renault and Shacman trucks (essential).
  • Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Prepare and monitor workshop budgets, cost controls, and performance reports.
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Drive continuous improvement in workshop processes and efficiency.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in heavy vehicle workshop management.
  • Proven expertise in servicing Renault , Volvo and Shacman trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacture of trailers.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage large teams and complex workshop operations.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.


Skills & Competencies


  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Expertise – Advanced technical knowledge in servicing, diagnostics, and repair of heavy-duty trucks, trailers, forklifts, and construction equipment, particularly Renault, Volvo, and Shacman fleets.
  • Workshop Operations Management – Ability to plan, coordinate, and optimise large-scale workshop operations, ensuring high productivity, minimal downtime, and adherence to maintenance schedules.
  • Fleet Maintenance Planning – Strong capability in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs for large fleets.
  • Technical Diagnostics & Troubleshooting – Expertise in identifying complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic faults in heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision – Proven ability to lead, train, and manage teams of mechanics, technicians, and support staff in a high-performance workshop environment.
  • Spare Parts & Inventory Management – Competence in managing workshop inventory, procurement, and stock control for spare parts, tools, and consumables.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance – Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, workshop safety procedures, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Budgeting & Cost Control – Ability to manage workshop budgets, monitor repair and maintenance costs, and implement cost-effective operational practices.
  • Maintenance Management Systems – Proficiency in using workshop management systems, maintenance tracking tools, and reporting platforms to monitor fleet performance.
  • Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination – Ability to work effectively with suppliers, contractors, and internal departments to ensure efficient workshop operations.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making – Strong analytical skills to resolve operational challenges, prioritise repairs, and ensure rapid turnaround of vehicles and equipment.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency – Ability to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop productivity and service quality.
