Main Duties:

  • Manage the technical security systems at all work locations on a day to day basis
  • Coordinate and facilitate fault resolution or remediation steps to maintain system integrity and availability.
  • Research, implement and manage technical security controls to effectively control high risk areas using technical security design opportunities.
  • Provide strategic foresight for the technical security infrastructure when needed.
  • Ensure sound and secure policies and procedures as well as good governance of the technical systems.
  • Support the Group Head of Security on any matters, as directed, and act as group head when required.
  • Ensure adequate critical spares are available and that all mines have a detailed maintenance plan.
  • Apply project management skills to manage projects across the group.
  • Maintain a technical security budget for the group mines security requirements.
  • Conduct frequent research to ensure the group systems remain abreast of new technology.
  • A self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to program security servers and ensure they are operational to the prescribed levels.
  • Ability to manage a team of 5 staff in the technical security department.
  • Ensure that internal work standards, installations and equipment are of a world class standard, and inspect all installations to ensure compliance to the prescribed standards.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering/ Information Technology
  • Specialized knowledge of technical or computerized and information security systems including CCTV, access control and intrusion detection systems a must.
  • Knowledge of Gallagher, Avigilon and Dahua security equipment, systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of threat and risk assessment audit techniques.
  • Knowledge of security program management and security legislation.
  • Working knowledge of HSEQ systems and standards.
  • Clean class 4 driver’s license.
  • Have project management skills and experience, with ability to read technical drawings.
  • Ability to conduct security surveys and audits and recommend technical solutions
  • This is a senior position and requires the incumbent to have utmost integrity, responsibility and diligence.
  • Must be able to work long hours if necessary, and prepared to be away from home for extended periods at the mines as required.
  • Have the ability to work with contractors and suppliers as well as procurement departments to secure best deals for the company.
  • Must be able to draw up both opex and capex budgets and ensure they are adhered to.
