Overall Job Purpose
The role of the Network Specialist is to connect workstations to the server through cables or wireless systems through offering support and maintaining networking systems, installing routers and switches, as well as firewalls and network-related software programs. The individual is also responsible for performing awareness, training, and education steps with employees as necessary. The incumbent should also be capable of handling repair and maintenance of computer systems ensuring reliable network and ICT infrastructure services that offer 24/7 system and services availability to members and users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain and support the organization`s network environment.
- Develop, test, and deploy network device configurations
- Resolve connectivity challenges and assist with troubleshooting Internet connectivity for Corporate and Partner Sites.
- Create and maintain comprehensive up-to-date documentation of ICT and networking infrastructure Policies, Processes, Procedures, topologies as well as device configurations and ensure these are in compliance with international standards.
- Perform systems administration for organizational servers, including administering system-level security procedures, establish and maintain users' accounts, assign file permissions and enforce password and account policies
- Perform capacity planning and performance analysis.
- Manage all Network Infrastructure installations by contractors and verify completion of work
- Planning and implementing the network relocation and redesigning parts of the network to fit into the new requirements and allocating server resources to ensure optimum network performance
- Develop and configure network management software to show all the company`s network switches and routers and to be proactive in alerting staff to issues.
- Maintain accountability for cryptography, hardware, and server assets supporting daily activities
- Ensure that the EFT Service Delivery Channels and Networking Infrastructure are secure from any breach as defined by the ICT Security Policy.
- Offer LAN and WAN support
- Ensure that critical servers have sufficient disaster recovery backup and business continuity plans are fully tested and compliant with the ICT policy.
- Ensure all systems are adequately patched and backed up
- Conduct periodic research development of new technologies for increased effectiveness, efficiency and cost reduction.
- Design firewall architecture, Extranet and security needs
- Deploy site migrations and new infrastructure projects
- Maintain and service IT software and hardware
- Design and Support network systems.
- Administer Postilion Server.
- Create and maintain users account for all workstations
- Provide backup support for functional servers
- Maintain the integrity and security of the company`s network and the systems connected to it
- Assist member Financial Institutions to achieve automatic failover/object tracking through testing/ configuring
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Networking, Bsc Computer Science, Bsc Information Technology, Computer Engineering.
- 2 years experience in a Financial Institution will be an added advantage
- Basic knowledge of payment operations industry, including exposure to Switch, EFT or ACH operational practices preferred
- Experienced in working with fibre optic or Cat5 cable and advanced computer networking systems
- Cisco CCNP
- Junos knowledge
- CISCO IOS networks
- Juniper JUNOS Operating System
- Thorough understanding of information system architecture and system security practices
Skills/ Abilities
- Knowledge of different programming languages and fiber optic cable,
- Skilled in installing, repairing, and maintaining integrated network systems
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
