Duties and Responsibilities:
· To work as a link between the engineering services section and all other sections to see to it that all technical aspects of the ISP’s functions are properly implemented and utilised.
· To ensure the efficient administration and operation of the ISP's technical systems, strategies, platforms and technology.
· To implement effective security for all the ISP’s systems.
· To identify and implement new opportunities to improve the existing systems and methods.
· To define, communicate, evaluate and prepare new project plans.
· To implement new system requirements for the ISP.
· To hire and train engineers, technicians and other team members.
· To coordinate and also promote technical knowledge within the ISP and manage multiple technical teams at once.
· To offer technical support as well as troubleshooting assistance and advice across the departments of the ISP and see to it that there are no technical gaps and unfilled requirements.
Skills and Knowledge Specifications:
· Exceptional technical knowledge and expertise of Internet technology and systems.
· Wide and excellent general knowledge of computer systems, technical equipment and methods.
· Deep knowledge of hardware platforms including servers, network equipment and workstations.
· In-depth knowledge of operating systems including Linux, Windows and other operating systems.
· Strong knowledge of software products including application software, database systems and other software systems.
· Knowledge of and experience with big data concepts and practice.
· Extensive knowledge of and experience with cloud computing.
· Good analytical skills and troubleshooting qualities.
· Ability to handle difficult technical situations within the ISP.
· Strong leadership qualities.
· Good interpersonal, administration and managerial skills.
Education and Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum 5 years’ experience as an engineer or similar within a commercial Internet service Provider.
Experience in Information Technology Management, Network Management, Systems Administration, Project Management and General Management is essential.
