Head of Research and Development

Duties and Responsibilities:

•         To work as a link between the Research and Development Division and all other departments and to see to it that all technical aspects of the Company’s functions are properly implemented and utilised.

•         To ensure the efficient administration and execution of the Company’s technical research and development projects.

•         To identify and implement new opportunities to improve the existing systems and methods.

•         To define, communicate, evaluate and prepare new project plans.

•         To implement new system requirements for the Company.

•         To hire and train executives, technicians and other team members.

•       To coordinate and also promote technical knowledge within the Company and manage multiple technical teams at once.

•       To offer technical support as well as troubleshooting assistance and advice across the departments of the Company and see to it that there are no technical gaps and unfilled requirements.

Skills and Knowledge Specifications:

•       Exceptional technical knowledge and expertise.

•       Excellent knowledge of computer, electronic, telecommunication, and other technical equipment, systems and methods.

•       Experience in research and development at a management level.

•       Knowledge and experience of project management practise

•       Strong knowledge of computer software and software products.

•       Good analytical skills and troubleshooting qualities.

•       Ability to handle difficult technical situations within the Division.

Education and Qualifications:

•         A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or electronics (BSc, BEng, BTech etc. with Computer Science/Information Systems as a major) is a must.

•         A master's degree in a similar field/ MBA or similar post graduate management degree

•         Professional qualifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager(CISM), Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)etc. will be an added advantage

Experience:

•         Minimum 5 years’ experience as an IT manager, or similar including large research project planning and implementation.

•         Experience in Information Technology Management, Network Management, Systems Administration, Project Management and General Management is essential.

•         Research experience and management of research and development projects.
